Danny stood before his mirror adjusting his tie. Looked at his weathered face and wondered what Liz saw when she looked at him.
He reached for the long slender box, opened it for the twentieth time to look at the emeralds sparkling deep green on a bed of velvet.
At this moment Liz was lying naked chained to the bed of a serial killer across town.
Liz’s birthday, special night tonight.
Danny just didn’t realize how special, yet.
