Tax part 2
Characters: Bobby, Alex
Word Count:

Bobby was already seated in the SUV when Alex reached the garage.

Not a word was exchanged during their drive to the Dolan home. However, the air was thick with emotion. Alex was still angry about how Bobby tried to roughshod over her opinion because he wanted to just go get the bad guy and break him instead of doing steady ‘ducks in a row’ and okay ‘every t crossed and every I dotted.’ An airtight case with no loopholes. Bobby thought just because he got a confession that was all it took. Well, yeah, IF they took a deal, but if it went to court it was a different thing.

She glanced sideways beneath her lids at him. He was chalky white in his anger and she saw the flash a pain when she reminded him SHE was the one in charge…he had shut down on her then and listened to her rant till Ross.

She sighed as she pulled into a parking space in front of Dolan’s building. Deciding to offer the proverbial olive branch she turned and opened her mouth, “Bobby. . .”

With jerky movements he unzipped his binder and ripped the pages from inside it, opened the door and stepped out. He stooped and looked her in the eyes, “You tell me you’re the boss, and I’ll do what you say. You tax my patience beyond endurance because you KNOW I’m right, but instead you throw it in my face that you‘re the LEAD detective,” he threw the papers at her, “So fucking lead, Detective.” Bobby slammed the door and Alex watched him drop his binder into the waste basket beside the SUV and disappear into the building.

Stunned, Alex watched the papers drift and settle around her. Her partner… he was so damn volatile. So she’d hit a nerve. Sighing she gathered everything together and retrieved his notebook from the basket. On the hood she replaced everything neatly back inside and zipped it up.

Having a male partner was like having a husband. Sometimes you had to walk on eggshells but in the end it was worth it. Bobby had more male ego and arrogance than most men. But he was hers and she intended to keep him. So she’d go in and soothe her wounded tiger. Mr. Dolan could go to hell whether he did it or not.
