I have not watched the show - after seeing a few episode of the seeker I am afraid that this show is no better a reflection of the books.

Like True Blood and the books since the storyline is following the directors vision instead of the books verbatim I look at the series as a whole new series with just the same character names. I do the same with George R. R. Martin's books. In fact the decreasing quality of the last few books of Martin's the series can't be worse.
