Just a note I wouldn't post probably if I weren't dying from the flu. YOU FRIEND'S LOCK PEOPLE WHO INSIST I MUST GIVE YOU GOOD CAUSE TO FRIEND WITH ME. WHY DON'T YOU HAVE THE POLITENESS TO TELL ME WHY YOU ARE UNFRIENDING ME? Did you hate a comment, an icon? Afraid I'll give you the flu? I mean you don't want to be friends anymore, okay--just tell me why. I realize these people have already gone so they are not going to read this and I am not needy or care enough to pm and ask why. I just needed to vent. And BTW if I friended you for whatever reason and you never friended me back I deleted you when I deleted her.

That's the meanness from the flu, I am going to take my flu and curl up in a ball and die.

the ones that i love are these: "we just don't have enough in common" or "we never talk" when they are the ones that friended me in the first place (i mean they are the ones that came to me...) or ones that you TRY and comment and they NEVER comment back and never COMMENT on your posts. I am going to do a friends cull in the not too distant future when I can be bothered (because generally people are on my f-list for life). It's going to be people who have never interacted with me and the odd person who hasn't posted for ages and I'm not bothered whether they do or don't. And then there will be a public post explaining that so that if anyone feels that they were defriended in error (and the chances are they won't see it, on account of the, you know, NOT POSTING), I can always readd.

Clearly your flu germs are SO strong, they can fly through the interwebz...

I've had the same happen to me. I've done the same, but unless I'm singling out one particular person for one particular reason, it's because of the never-interact-never-comment-are-you-even-alive type of thing. Save that, it might also stem from interacting-but-discovering-we-have-absolutely-nothing-in-common thing.

Don't post much but I read all my friends posts avidly and respond to quite a few. My husband has chronic neurolgical problems so my news is mainly doom and gloom so I don't unload on LJ or Facebook. However, they are both a great means for me to feel connected to the world, so please don't delete me.

I've never taken anyone off my list, but I suppose it's time to look at that; there are a few that I just don't know why they're there. My LJ is NOT locked down. But if I did that, I'd definitely put a disclaimer post up so everyone understood what was going on. Not to do so is just plain rude, IMHO. It's like having a virtual door slammed in your face.

I have never defriended someone but I know how it hurts to get defriended. No warning or anything and it was by someone who I always left comments to she commented back too. Then one day she makes a friends cut and I am gone no explanation.

It's a hurtful thing to have happen and I am so sorry it has happened to you. Some people seem to think that because they are online manners go out the window. Just because you don't face some one physically when you are online doesn't mean you can just treat people however you want. Rude is rude. People online have real feelings because they are real people!

I had one of those a few months back and in my darker moments I really want to ask why. This guy is one of those multi-frienders and he certainly has people still on his list who never post. A while back he made a post about healthcare and I disagreed with one of his friends - not obnoxiously or rancourously I don't think and it was just the one comment - so if it's that... Fuck'im for an insincere barsteward!

Flu is nasty. Coddle yourself until the worst of it passes, as it will.

It is irritating. I only remove those I've never talked to or who have never friended me back. But mainly, I remove people from my facebook friends, not on LJ. It's really most a matter of if they ever bother to talk to me...
