Monday morning Bobby found Alex at her desk before him. Surprised he set down and handed her a coffee across the desk. She winced and gasped as she took it and ground out, “Hot.”
“You’re early.”
"So."
Bobby looked closely at her pale face and frowned,” What’s wrong with your mouth...those marks?”
She touched them gingerly, wincing, “Long story, split my lip is all.”
She stood and walked carefully to the fax machine and back sitting down gingerly.
“You get in an accident?”
“No.”
“You know you can trust me, right.”
“There’s nothing to tell. Drop it, Bobby.”
