Ross reached for the coffee pot to pour.
“WATCH OUT, Danny, that water’s scalding.”
"I believe I know how to pour coffee, Liz...damn, son of a bitch. The cup hit the floor released automatically by the spasm from his hand as scorching coffee sloshed between his thumb and forefinger.”
“God damn it!” he jumped back just missing having his suit pants drenched with the hot liquid. Shaking and blowing on the burn his eyes welled, voice quavered, “I’m burned.”
Liz sighed grasping his wrist and leading him to the sink where she doused it with cool water.
‘I need some butter or ice.”
Liz barked a laugh and sobered immediately at his hang-dog expression. “Danny, salt is in butter, you don’t put salt into a burn. And ice deteriorates flesh. You never use ice." Gently she pulled his hand back and dabbed a sterile gauze sponge over it. “This is called Foile.” It will stop the burning.”
“What if it starts hurting again. A burn is the worst.”
'Men are such big babies, you’d have thought his hand had been cut off.' She shoved him lightly against the door to her office and plastered her mouth to his her tongue searching, stroking until he began to return her foray in earnest and she felt his burgeoning erection rising against her belly.
She backed away. “Think about that instead. Oh, and I dropped a small can of Foile in your jacket pocket if it begins to burn later. Spray it and just keep the gauze sponge over it as long a there’s a chance you’ll bump it. I’ll be over tonight to take care of both your problems.”
Danny glanced down at the tent in his slacks and sighed.
“I’m sure you’ll be back to normal by the time you reach your office. Just think of Goren and Nichols.”
"Thanks, Liz," his voice dry, brushed her lips with his and his voice low and gravely whispered, "Thanks, Liz." and headed out of her office.
She gathered towels to clean the floor. 'Men,' she thought with disgust...'Oh no, Daniel darling...thanks, it's okay, I’ll clean up the mess, Dear...but you’ll pay for it tonight.'
That got HER through the remainder of the day.
